Graffiti Literature Database version 1.2 is out

Posted on 9 Jun at 09:48

During the INDIGO project, graffiti-related literature (with their PDF, if available) was collected in a closed-source Citavi and an open-source Zotero database.

However, even after the project ended in August 2023, new literature was continuously added. That is why version 1.2 of the database was launched today, featuring 2000 literature references on street art and (modern + ancient) graffiti.

Please note that the shared literature databases do not include any PDFs to avoid possible copyright infringements:

  • The open-source Zotero database can be accessed here. The data-sharing platform Zenodo also offers an RDF and BibTex variant of this database for import to other reference managers.
  • Zenodo also features the *.ctv6archive file that can be opened in the closed-source but powerful Citavi database software.

Feel free to contact us if you spot mistakes or want specific journal articles, newspaper contributions, or books included.

Summary

Graffiti is unique, short-lived heritage balancing between tangible and intangible, offensive and pleasant. Graffiti makes people laugh, wonder, angry, think.

The two-year INDIGO project aims to build the basis to systematically document, monitor, and analyse circa 13 km of graffiti along Vienna’s Danube Canal in the next decade.
