Posted on September 18, 2021

On Friday the 17th of September, the 2nd Heritage Science Austria meeting took place in a hybrid format: on-site at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and online via Zoom.

The morning session was devoted to the nine projects awarded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) Heritage Science Austria funding programme. Below, one can open the 10-minute INDIGO project presentation that was given during the second slot of this session. As expected, this introductory talk gave rise to many relevant questions and concerns.

Summary

Graffiti is unique, short-lived heritage balancing between tangible and intangible, offensive and pleasant. Graffiti makes people laugh, wonder, angry, think.

The two-year INDIGO project aims to build the basis to systematically document, monitor, and analyse circa 13 km of graffiti along Vienna’s Danube Canal in the next decade.
