INDIGO 2.0 funded

Posted on December 3, 2025

Today, the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) announced that it will fund INDIGO 2.0, the academic follow-up project of what is now called INDIGO 1.0.

INDIGO 2.0 will build upon the data and scientific foundation of INDIGO 1.0, allowing us to continue setting new standards for documenting and disseminating contemporary graffiti-scapes.

Stay tuned! More info follows soon.

Summary

Graffiti is unique, short-lived heritage balancing between tangible and intangible, offensive and pleasant. Graffiti makes people laugh, wonder, angry, think.

The two-year INDIGO project aims to build the basis to systematically document, monitor, and analyse circa 13 km of graffiti along Vienna’s Danube Canal in the next decade.
