Martina Trognitz
archaeologist | digital archiving
Martina studied Computational Linguistics and Classical Archaeology at the University of Heidelberg and is interested in any application of digital methods (e.g. machine learning, digital documentation in 2D, 2.5D and 3D) in archaeology. She was employed at the German Archaeological Institute where she was involved in the project IANUS to build a digital archive for archaeology in Germany. This provided a solid foundation for her current work at the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage with the digital archive ARCHE. Besides all topics surrounding digital long-term preservation, Martina is also an advocate for Open Science in general, and Open Data in particular.
At INDIGO Martina provides the know-how needed for the long-term preservation of the data collected in the project. This not only includes archiving within ARCHE, but also data management from early on, reflecting and deciding on licensing questions, help in developing controlled vocabularies and address any other related issues.
