Massimiliano Carloni
classical philologist | data modelling & archiving
Massimiliano Carloni completed his PhD in Classical Philology at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa in 2019 with a thesis on ancient Greek literature. His primary research interests lie in developing digital editions of ancient texts and exploring the use of semantic technologies and metadata standards to describe and render accessible vast collections of diverse materials. In particular, he is interested in graph-based data models and Linked Open Data. He is currently part of the managing team behind the repository for digital research data ARCHE at the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage.
Within INDIGO, Massimiliano is responsible for anything related to the digital long-term preservation of the data collected in the project. This includes developing a workflow to archive the data in ARCHE, curating (meta)data, providing technical expertise in the development of controlled vocabularies, and enabling a smooth transition of data from OpenAtlas to ARCHE.
